Email Editor – Autism & Anxiety

I now manage office working much better and have gained much more confidence in navigating work challenges.

After working full-time from home during the COVID pandemic, I was struggling with the transition to more office-based working and was looking for support. I was getting very anxious in the days before going into the office, found it difficult when in the office with managing sensory issues, social anxiety and energy levels and would be exhausted at the end of the day.

I found coaching with Pauline incredibly valuable right from the first session. I loved that they were always very practical, and quickly helped generate solutions to my challenges, which I looked forward to trying and then discussing in future sessions. There was a fantastic blend of structure and continuity between sessions but also the flexibility to bring in something new that we had not discussed previously. As a keen runner, one of my favourite aspects of coaching has been exploring ways that I can transfer some of my mental strategies into workplace scenarios. I have also loved being able to think creatively about solutions, and the consistently collaborative approach, rather than coaching feeling too directional or formulaic.

After around 7 months of bi-weekly sessions, I now manage office working much better. I no longer have the same amount of anxiety about going into the office, find the days far less draining, enjoy being able to connect with colleagues when I am there and am less depleted when I arrive home. I have also gained much more confidence in navigating work challenges more generally, which I know will continue to be helpful in my current and future job roles.
